The 2020 Nascar Cup Series season should get in progress with the greatest stock vehicle race of the year beginning in the early evening. The Daytona 500 was short of what one pace lap away from taking the green banner before raindrops started falling at Daytona International Speedway. What should be a green banner time of 3:05 p.m. ET was postponed to 4:15 p.m.
At that point, following only 20 laps, downpour returned and the race was delayed until 4 p.m. ET Monday.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. also, Alex Bowman earned their places on the first line for the beginning of the 2020 Daytona 500 with their post-qualifying speeds, and the remainder of the 40-vehicle field was set by the consequences of Thursday night's Duels.
A year ago, Denny Hamlin won the Daytona 500. The year prior to that, Austin Dillon took the crown.
